C-Quest Capital LLC (“C-Quest”), a global carbon project developer with a mission of empowering rural communities to address climate change and drive sustainable development, announced today that Dr. Donee Alexander, former Chief Science and Learning Officer at the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA), will join the company as Chief Carbon Officer, effective 5 August. In this newly created role, Dr. Alexander will serve as a member of C-Quest’s Executive Committee; oversee C-Quest’s carbon asset management, including research, policy, methodology, carbon accounting, and quality control; and seek to ensure the highest quality and integrity in C-Quest’s carbon credit production.
Dr. Alexander is a recognized leader and published author in the field of household air pollution. Her work has been instrumental in advancing the scientific understanding of health and climate benefits associated with the transition to clean cooking. At CCA, she provided vision, leadership, and technical guidance across various portfolios, including health, environment and climate, standards, and monitoring and evaluation.
Dr. Alexander was also a founding member of the Clean Cooking and Climate Consortium (4C), a group of technical partners supporting efforts to achieve climate goals through clean cooking action. From 2021 to 2024, under Dr. Alexander’s leadership, 4C increased transparency, integrity, and capacity across the clean cooking and carbon markets to achieve climate goals through clean cooking. As part of these efforts, 4C developed the first ever carbon methodology that applies to all cooking transition scenarios.
Before joining CCA, Dr. Alexander led a randomized controlled intervention trial on household air pollution and pregnancy outcomes in Nigeria as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Chicago. She served on the National Institute of Environmental Health Services’ Implementation Science Network Steering Committee and as an expert consultant to the World Health Organization’s Household Energy Programme. Dr. Alexander holds a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of Washington.
