Update: Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry Platform

C-Quest Capital's (CQC) partnership with Community Markets for Conservation (COMACO) and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) took another step this week as CQC and its partners signed contracts to assess the incremental soil carbon accumulation in the deep soil profile to 3 metres in legume-based coppicing agroforestry systems in the Luangwa valley. Research has shown unprecedented levels of SOC accumulation to this depth due to constant root conversion. This field sampling program, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy through COMACO/WCS, is exciting and potentially path breaking. The results will feed into the preparation of a proposed COMACO – BioCarbon Fund (World Bank) REDD plus Landscape wide carbon sequestration and management project.
