Northern Nigeria has the biggest urban firewood markets in Africa and possibly the world. Still, cooking on three stone fires or crude stoves cut from drums comprises the largest share of cooking practices and fuels in Kaduna and Kano, despite high density permanent urban dwellings.
C-Quest Capital and local energy company, SOSAI Energies, led by women entrepreneur Habiba Ali, set out to introduce improved cookstoves in Kano and Kaduna State in 2012.
By 2015, our rural extension of the Nigeria stoves project had been launched, and over 30,000 stoves have been installed as of June 2016 and continues to grow.
