Having a lasting impact on the planet and truly transforming lives, behaviours, and technologies is at the heart of everything we do. This is how we provide carbon with a human heart.

At the highest level, we measure our impact through:

  • No. of lives improved – To date, we have improved over 41.5 million lives through our projects.
  • No. of UN SDGs achieved – typically up to 5-11 SDGs, representing the depth and breadth of the co-benefits our projects provide.

We have big ambitions – by 2030, our projects will have generated +1 billion emission reductions and removals and supported 100m people around the world.

Why a focus on women and girls?

Experience on the ground has also taught us that women and girls are the primary change agents in the transformation of energy, agriculture, and land management practices. We are focused on transforming the lives of women and girls through improving their health and productivity and providing empowerment and economic opportunity. By improving their capacity to live healthy and productive lives, we greatly enhance the prospects of food and water security and sustainable economic development in the face of climate change.

How do we improve lives?

Each project we develop is rigorously designed to ensure it has significant co-benefits for the communities we serve. Project co-benefits come in many forms, and we utilize the 17 UN Sustainable development goals to align our impact. These goals recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

Verified Impact

To ensure our project impact is documented, we undertake rigorous validation and verification of our projects. All our project’s impact will be verified and validated through Verra’s industry-leading verification standards, and our impact will be certified through SD vista.

Verified Carbon Standard (VCS): Verra is the leading global standard for certifying voluntary carbon emissions reductions. Our projects will use the Verra Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) methodology with all projects registered, audited, monitored, reported, and verified rigorously by independent 3rd party Validation and Verification Bodies.

Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard (SD VISta): All our projects will be rigorously assessed by Verra’s SD VISta framework, which requires separate extensive project documentation, 3rd party validation, project registration, and periodic verification to report and quantify the sustainable development benefits of our project-based activities.
Our expected SDG achievements will result in SD VISta labels issued for each SDG achieved and will be linked to the underlying project and ‘attached’ to each VCU.
